On Sunday June 22nd, Lucas and Logan Alford of Defuniak Springs were fishing on West Bay in Freeport and were struck by lightening. It claimed both their lives and left their family and friends devastated. Worst of all, Lucas had just become a new father and now his wife, Mistie is left alone to care for their son, Luke. Luke began life with jaundice and had to stay an extra week in the hospital, then once home, was unable to hold down food and was diagnosed with a stomach muscle problem which required surgery and hospitalization for another week.
Lucas only spent maybe 2 weeks at home with his little boy!
Lucas was the bread winner for the family, and worked hard so Mistie could stay home to care for Luke. They'd recently purchased a house which now she can't pay for even if she gets a job and leaves Luke in care of someone else. SO, my husband and I have decided to have a benefit dinner for her on Saturday July 19th at the Walton County Fairgrounds in Defuniak Springs. It will go from 10am-2pm and we'll have an auction of various items (cakes, donated items) at 11am. If ya'll could help us get this on the radio we'd REALLY REALLY appreciate it! Also, there has been a family support fund set up for Mistie & Luke at Bank of America, so if people can't attend they can still deposit a donation into ANY Bank of America by saying they want it to go to the "Lucas, Mistie & Luke Alford Family Support Fund
